Today is Day 1 of my Coffee-Free Existence. I decided on Sunday (after my third espresso drink in under two hours) that I’m way too addicted to coffee and it’s costing me a ton of moolah on a monthly basis. At an average of $3.00 per espresso drink, once a day, seven days a week, it costs me a minimum of $93.00 per month on this habit. During the weekends, I sometimes average three espresso drinks per day, which adds another $24.00 to my average monthly espresso expenditure. That’s $117.00 that I could be spending on something else (or putting in my savings account).
And, to top it off, I drink decaf (because I can’t do caffeine, medically speaking). So, what the hell’s the point?! No, “drip coffee” just doesn’t cut it for me so don’t even try to steer me in that direction. Besides, there are traces of caffeine even in decaffeinated coffee, so I’m actually doing my health a favor by giving up the java.
Oh, but it was so difficult today. It was all I could do to stay away from the espresso bar. This morning, I poured myself a cup of herbal tea. Mint Medley, it was. I think I had twelve cups of Mint Medley by the time five o’clock rolled around. Sigh…am I going to survive this?
