Thinking of Going Green?

Everyone’s going green these days and what better way to do so than to buy from your local farmer’s markets (if you happen to live in a city that hosts them). Buying from a farmer’s market does several things:

You’ll be buying from local vendors, which not only results in your support of the local economy, it also means that the product you bought didn’t get transported to your city in large trucks, which, of course, uses petroleum.

Products sold at farmers markets are often organic, which means they are pesticide/chemical free and/or are produced using the most green methods.

Products are often very picked-just-this-morning fresh.

Here in P-Town, we are fortunate to have many farmer’s markets every year. Here’s a handy-dandy list of locations.

Look to see if your city hosts these types of farmer’s markets. And you’ll see that “going green” can be as simple as buying produce.

Great advice. I especially like supporting the local economy. It really irritates me to walk into an Idaho supermarket and see them selling Washington potatoes. Of course, then the folks in Washington are probably buying Idaho potatoes. It’s insanity.

    Wait, Washington makes potatoes, too?!
