Toshi’s Back!

My laptop (a.k.a. Toshi) is back! I got the call this morning from GeekSquad that I could pick it up today. Although I was feeling better, I was reluctant to be out in the elements for fear of fanning the flames of my illness. That hesitation lasted two seconds before I donned my jeans, Nikes, and at least three layers of top and was headed to pick up Toshi.

A couple of days ago, I was informed by GeekSquad that my harddrive went kaput. That was the problem. I authorized them over the phone to install a new harddrive for me. They said that the factory-installed applications were re-installed into the new harddrive. This was great news; I thought I was going to have to find my copies of Office, for example, amid boxes that I still haven’t gotten the chance to unpack. When I got home, the first thing I did was downloaded my workfiles onto a jump drive and onto an external harddrive. On the off-chance that Toshi acts up again, I want to make sure that my workfiles are accessible by other means. I learned that lesson the hard way.

So, here I am, typing this blog entry on my newly repaired laptop. It did cost me an extra $84.00 USD for the new hard drive, but it’s worth it. Life is grand…
