Heavy Mettle

Iron Man

After several failed attempts over the past few weeks, I finally got to see Iron Man today and it was worth the wait! This movie rocked! Robert Downey Jr. was ‘Tony Stark’ with a capital T. The Downey Jr-isms were ever-present, enhancing the character’s realism. Gwyneth Paltrow as ‘Pepper Potts’ was effective and Jeff Bridges played the biggest asshole ever. If they ever make a sequel– and the end of the credit roll certainly points to one– I hope that they flesh out Terrence Howard‘s ‘Rhodey’ character. In this movie, he was nothing more than a bit part. What I immensely enjoyed about this movie was how they showed the evolution without making it boring. It poked fun at itself without being campy. And Stan Lee‘s predictable cameo made me nearly choke on a Raisinet. If you haven’t yet seen this movie, what the hell are you waiting for?!

They will make another one and Rhodes clearly looks at the gold suit and says “Next Time Baby” or something like that. And the movie will deal with Starks alcoholism. 2010. 😀

@ DAVE – I remember that scene. Does Rhodes actually don a suit in the comics as well? I’m not too familiar. But, I think that’d be hella cool!
