Great list… and so true. I have done several of these myself.
Mike
It’s undeniable. 😉 Thanks for stopping by.
He said the same thing about ” Living in Maine “
and proud of it!!
And/or Washington as any Oregonian knows, several of those towns are in WA, and the same stuff applies.
Absolutly agree! You can always recognize “new” TV personalities because of how the prounouce cities (or from CA because all of the freeways are “THE 5” or Santa Anna (same freeway)
Well, I’m from Tennessee and have lived here all my life, but I know all of these because…..I married an Oregonian! 🙂
You can also say that for Washington State also
Not written by Jeff Foxworthy at all, but still really fun and so so true.
A lot of these apply to Washington. Probably not the driving in the snow parts though. Washingtonians can’t drive worth a darn in the snow.
Between my husband and myself, we have done all of those! ROFL I grew up in Bend, my hubby grew up in Lakeview and went to college in Salem! Jeff Foxworthy nails it again! 😀
I was laughing so hard I was nearly crying! LOL
If you kill more dear with your bumper per yer then any combination of you and your friends do with your rifles, Then damn it you live in Oregon. So glad to live here in Oregon.
If you keep a chain saw in your truck just in case there is another tree on the road and your not going to wait for someone else to get to cut it and have all the fun. You live in Oregon.
If you wear socks with sandals…….you like in Oregon!
i am from oregon and darn proud of rain or shine
If you walk past a Starbucks because you would rather order from the Batista on the next block (also a Starbucks), you live in Oregon… I Love this ad mostly true. Except I would change you live in Oregon to you were raised in Oregon on the snow driving ones.
You forgot if you can properly say… Oregon. And I think all of these are signs u live not just in Oregon, but the Pacific Northwest.
this really should be for the entire nw!
He did include Oregon when noting words to correctly pronounce @Jueliet. I totally agree – if you were raised in Oregon, you and snow have no problem, unless you live on the other side of the mountain…. jus sayin’ ….. I would have included some other words like Galveston (street in Bend) , Tumalo, Scio, there are so many I’ve heard mispronounced by ‘local’ news reporters. I especially liked the comment about the bumpers vs guns killing deer. Wasn’t always that way, however. I really appreciated this article, have personal experience with each entry and have shared on FB or emailed friends who now live elsewhere – Like Arizona, what’s up with that? So many Oregonians live there. Maybe cause they can’t drive in snow?
So good to see so many fellow Oregonians! =) I was born in California, moved here when I was 4. My soul was always meant for Oregon. I’m absolutely in love with it here. I love our temper-mental and mostly rainy weather. We have a little bit of everything here. I am never leaving.
I moved to Oregon, from California, over 10 years ago. When I was planning my exit, friends said that the reason I was moving to Oregon was so I would no longer have to pump my own gas!
living in Corvallis and Portland area 23yr it is mostly rain, rain, rain. Like navigating a boat down I-5. Once an Oregonian always an Oregonian, no matter where you are.
I actually moved from Arizona to Oregon and I think the same thing that is where I am meant to be!! It was so funny to read this because I have lived there less then a year and have already done or know someone who has done most of these and the pronouncing of the words haha Awesome!! And actually have family that lives in Boring. This article is great thanks for sharing
If you’re lost in the woods and you’ve heard moss grows on the NORTH side of the trees… You’re SCREWED!, LOST in Oregon, and NOT from Oregon (Oregonians don’t get lost in the woods ;), Oh btw Welcome to Oregon!
Looking forward on experiencing all the above mentioned..
I agree with the lady that said” once an oregonian, always an oregonian” no matter where you are i now live in Montana:)
PS – You’re stuck behind a car at a traffic light, If the light changes to green more than once, you don’t honk, you make sure the other driver is okay….you live in Oregon!
If you know all those things apply to Washington too, but you ignore it because Washington was originally part of Oregon, you live in Oregon.
I love the wearing shorts, sandals and a parka. Only in Oregopn can you see the sun through the rain and snow, then its gets gray and gloomy and then 5 minutes later its bright and sunny again and then a hail storm….. Bi-polar weather in Oregon! And….. what’s an umbrella? Oh yeah.. that thing I use to keep from getting sunburn in the nasty hot summer that out of state people don’t realize we have here. lol
Uuuummmmm…..I believe this was a “you live in WA” list first, but, for the most part they are applicable to both!
